Create a Learning Ecosystem with Google Sites

Course Description

This training is designed to help teachers create a classroom website using Google Sites.  The purpose is to centralize the classroom for disseminating content and providing resources for students in a 1:1 environment.  Having a classroom website will help teachers develop routines and workflows that would simplify the ways in which technology can be leveraged in the classroom.

This is a self-paced training; however, please be advised that you cannot proceed to other training modules until you complete the previous modules.  The training must be completed in the order that it is listed.

Prerequisites

  • Must have a Google account.  If you do not have one, click HERE to create a free account.
  • Must have internet access.  The videos created are all uploaded to YouTube, so you must have internet access.
  • Must have the Chrome browser downloaded to your computer.  This will ensure that all of your work with Google Sites does not run into any incompatibilities.  If you do not have the browser, click HERE to get to the download site.  Alternatively, Firefox is one browser that works well with Google applications.

What to expect...

  • Video lessons

You will be watching a series of instructional videos that will guide you through the process of creating a classroom website and developing workflows and routines.  It is highly recommended that you  take the time to create, test and play with the different features and activities presented in the videos.  The entire training is one of many approaches to creating an ecosystem of learning for a 1:1 environment--you are more than welcome to use what you have learned to develop what fits best in your classroom.

  • Quizzes

At various segments of the training, you will be presented with assessment items.  The assessment items are designed to help review what was learned.
At the end of each module, you are required to take a quiz consisting of mostly multiple choice questions and some short response questions.  You must score at least 80% or higher on the multiple choice questions before you can move on to the next module.  The short response questions are reflective questions to gauge your ideas of application.
